The Old Homesteads of the North Edick Rd
June 19, 2023
Today I had the opportunity to ATV/Hike with Mike Sokira. Mike took me on a tour of the old homesteads of North Edick Road. In 1868 were the homesteads of J.C. McLane, W.C. McLean, J Webster, W Cool, G Barnes, J Herringshaw, J Helterline. In 1905 G. Beyer, J. Edick, H Goodwin. At the end of this road where it joins Piseco Rd at the Iron Bridge were the buildings that were associated with the old Helterline Mill. What we can see now are just the foundations of those old homes, buildings, barns, and fields. Most of these old homesteads are now located on State land.
The photograph is one of many pictures I took that day. This either a well or a fireplace of one of the old homesteads.
This is a great trail to hike either from the top of Edick Rd or from the top where it connects to Piseco Rd. at the iron bridge where the road changes to dirt and gravel. The trail is on the left hand side.
